 CT Brain indication,Technique and Procedure

  • Chronic headache with vomiting
  • RTA (Road traffic accident) or Trauma to head.
  • Sudden fall.
  • Epilepsy. 
  • Weakness right / left upper and lower lomb.
  • Heaviness right / left upper and lower lomb.
  • Irrevalent talk. 
  • Deviation of face to right / Left.
  • Seizure disorder.
  • Numbness.
  • Prior stroke . Recurrent stroke.
  • Cancer history.
  • Abnormal behaviour. 
Technique 
  • Patient preparationRemove metallic objects including earrings, necklaces. 
  • Patient position : head first and supine with their arms by their body.
  • Tube voltage : 120 to 130 kVp.
  • Scout : Base of skull to vertex.
  • Scan direction : Caudocranial.
  • Scan geometry Slice thickness 0.5 mm.
  • Respiration phase :  Suspended.
Contrast protocol : 
  • Non-contrast performed first.
  • Delayed phase post-contrast acquisition.
  • Post-contrast 50 cc hand injection.
Multiplanar reconstructions
  • 1.5 mm axial, sagittal and coronal brain reformats.
  • 1.5 mm axial, sagittal and coronal bone reformats.
