HRCT chest  indication ,Technique and Procedure

Indication
  • Chronic cough. 
  • Trauma to chest.
  • Chest pain. 
  • Fever.  
  • Cough.
  • Haemoptysis.
  • Shortness of Breath.
  • Bronchiectasis.
  • Cystic lung disease.
  • Small airways disease.
  • Pulmonary micronodules.
  • Cancer history.
  • Interstitial lung disease. 
Technique 
  • Patient preparation : Remove metallic objects including earrings, necklaces.
  • Patient positioning: Patient lying in supine position, arms positioned comfortably   above the head in the head-arm rest, lower legs supported.
  • Tube voltage : 120 to 130 kVp.
  • mAs : 100
  • Scout : Thorax apex to diaphragm.
  • Scan direction : Caudocranial.
  • Scan geometry Slice thickness 5.0 mm. or 1mm
  • Respiration phase :  Breath hold.
Contrast protocol : (if needed)
  • Non-contrast performed first.
  • Delayed phase post-contrast acquisition.
  • Post-contrast 50 cc hand injection.
 Reconstructions : If you want to reconstruct thin slices in every 10 or 20 mm instead of 15   mm as predefined, simply change the Feed/Scan before loading the mode.
